Albizia julibrissin is a deciduous ornamental plant belonging to the Fabaceae family.

This deciduous tree generally reaches a height between 5 and 12 meters, with a wide, light canopy shaped like an umbrella that provides gentle shade. Its growth habit is soft and spreading, perfect for creating a scenic and natural effect. The bipinnate, very fine leaves open generously to the light during the day, while at night they gently close, following the natural rhythm of the solar cycle.

The true highlight of Albizia is its summer flowering, which occurs between June and August. Its flowers are fragrant, soft, and fluffy, composed of long silky stamens in intense pink, sometimes shaded with white or fuchsia.

After flowering, the fruits appear—flat pods similar to legumes that are initially green, turning brown at maturity, and can remain attached to the branches even during the winter season.

Albizia julibrissin prefers a position in full sun and grows well in light, well-drained soils that are not too calcareous. It is drought-resistant once well-established but benefits from regular watering during the hottest and driest periods. It also tolerates wind and salt spray well, making it a suitable choice for coastal gardens. Pruning is not strictly necessary but can be useful to maintain a harmonious shape and is best done at the end of winter.

Albizia can withstand temperatures down to -10/-12°C, but in areas with very harsh winters, it is advisable to protect it during the first years of growth.
