Tamarix ramosissima ‘Hulsdonk White’ is an ornamental variety with summer flowering of the Tamarix ramosissima species, known for its exceptional hardiness and light, elegant habit. This deciduous shrub, which can also take the form of a small tree, is valued for its extraordinary white flowers, rarer than the typical pink hues of other species.

It reaches an average height of 3-5 meters, with a lateral spread of about 2-4 meters, forming a semi-open canopy made up of thin, arching, and flexible branches, giving the plant a feathery and delicate appearance. The leaves, very small and scale-like, are densely arranged on the branches and are gray-green in color, enhancing the ethereal effect of the structure.

Between July and September, the plant is covered with a spectacular white flowering, made up of feathery inflorescences up to 15 cm long, arranged on the current year’s branches. The small but numerous flowers attract pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies, making the plant ecologically valuable as well.

The variety Tamarix ramosissima ‘Hulsdonk White’ is particularly suitable for Mediterranean gardens, arid environments, coastal areas, or regions exposed to strong winds and drought. It prefers full sun exposure and adapts well to poor, sandy, or saline soils, as long as they are well-drained. It tolerates temperatures down to -20°C, making it suitable for temperate continental climates as well.

This plant requires only an annual pruning at the end of winter, preferably vigorous, to stimulate the production of new branches.

The fruits, which are not very decorative, are small capsules containing fluffy seeds that are dispersed by the wind, but they do not constitute a significant ornamental element. The plant is generally grown for its summer landscape value, environmental tolerance, and its striking presence in green spaces.
